What does People First of Connecticut do?
ADVOCACY
People First of Connecticut:

Helps individuals develop self-advocacy skills.

Helps groups of self-advocates fight for what they need in their communities.

Advocates for statewide changes to make people’s lives better

Educates individuals with disabilities, their families and friends, members of their communities, employers, elected officials, and others about the rights of people with disabilities.
ACTIVITIES
People First of Connecticut:

Meets regularly so everyone knows what current issues are.

Sponsors, hosts, and participates in events, conferences, and activities that promote the rights and abilities of individuals with disabilities.

Produces things like letters and videos to raise awareness about things that are important for people with disabilities.

Agrees on talking points each year for state and local officials like the Governor or Lieutenant Governor, legislators, and mayors or local community board members.

Develops an annual plan to address 3-5 very important issues.

Forms committees to work on special projects.
-
Keeps records needed by the Fiscal Sponsor.
